Management Team

A.J. Haas, J.D., CPA, LL.M.

A.J. Haas is the Managing Member of Perennial Fund Services. He has serviced the global alternative investment fund and investment adviser community for approximately twenty years with international public accounting firms such as Ernst & Young, Deloitte and BDO. Mr. Haas has extensive experience helping clients with a host of core services, including fund administration, fund accounting, financial statement preparation, U.S. tax compliance, U.S. FATCA compliance, choice of entity consulting, ASC 740 reporting, foreign entity reporting and IRS audit representation. His clients include domestic funds, offshore funds, master-feeder funds, fund of funds, unit trusts, umbrella trusts, investment advisors, general businesses and high net-worth individuals.

In the past several years, we have seen a large number of U.S. institutional and high-net worth individuals invest in Asian-advised hedge funds and private equity special purpose vehicles. Mr. Haas works with Asian-based investment advisors to create fund structures that maximize tax-efficiency for their U.S. investors and helps them understand the important tax issues that drive the U.S. investor. He has specialized knowledge dealing with foreign partnerships and passive foreign investment companies. Mr. Haas services clients throughout the U.S., Cayman, BVI, Tokyo, China, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Mr. Haas holds a Juris Doctorate degree from Rutgers Law School, a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Fordham University and an LL.M. from the University of San Diego. He is a Certified Public Accountant in New York and California, a member of the New York State Bar, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Hedge Fund Association.

Christine E. Pedersen

Chrissy E. Pedersen is the Senior Director of Tax & Consulting Services at Perennial Fund Services. She has been involved in the alternative investment fund industry since 2007 and has over fifteen years of accounting and tax compliance experience. Ms. Pedersen leads the firm’s global tax and consulting practice and is responsible for delivering services to approximately 200 alternative investment funds, investment management companies, general businesses and high net-worth individuals.

Ms. Pedersen’s diversified clientele includes limited partnerships, limited liability companies, S corporations, C corporations, passive foreign investment companies, and high net-worth individuals. Ms. Pedersen also specializes in the hedge fund and investment advisory business where she advises clients on complex accounting and tax matters. She helps clients set-up accounting systems, including payroll, human resources, accounts receivables and payables, multi-state operations, Form 1099 filings and other back-office solutions. Ms. Pedersen successfully represents clients with IRS examinations which often result in tax reductions or no change closing letters. She also assists domestic clients with secretary of state filings and offshore clients with U.S. FATCA compliance and ASC 740 reporting.

Ms. Pedersen attended Golden Gate University in San Francisco where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting and graduated Cum Laude in 2007. She is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Tax degree at Golden Gate University in San Francisco and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Edward A. Feliciano

Edward A. Feliciano is the Director of Investor Relation Services at Perennial. Mr. Feliciano has been involved in the hedge fund industry since 2008 and oversees our Investor Relations and AML/KYC functions. His area of expertise involves the review, coordination and processing of investor subscription documents, performing AML/KYC procedures, communicating with and addressing investor inquiries and developing best practices for the firm’s investor relations practice. For over eight years Mr. Feliciano has managed an investor relations practice that includes thousands of investors with significant investor contact.

Mr. Feliciano holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Mapúa Institute of Technology, Manila, Philippines.

Christine S. Yap

Christine S. Yap is the Director of Tax – Global Investment Fund Practice at Perennial Fund Services. Mrs. Yap specializes in U.S. tax compliance for the alternative investment fund industry, including domestic and offshore hedge funds, investment partnerships and portfolio taxation. She has unique experience servicing Asian-based hedge funds structured as master-feeders, unit trusts, umbrella trusts, foreign partnerships and passive foreign investment companies.

She also assists hedge fund clients with ASC 740 reporting, U.S. FATCA compliance, U.S. foreign bank account reporting and foreign entity filings. Mrs. Yap frequently trains Perennial’s tax compliance team on complex tax matters, including Schedule K-1 reporting,partnership tax allocations, wash sales, unrelated business taxable income, trader versus investor classification, Section 1256 contracts, foreign currency contracts, state tax compliance and a host of other areas impacting her hedge fund clients.

Mrs. Yap graduated from the University of the Philippines Visayas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant in the Philippines.

Mary Anne S. Catura

Mary Anne S. Catura is a Senior Manager in the Fund Administration group at Perennial Fund Services. Ms. Catura is responsible for providing fund administration, portfolio accounting, Daily NAV and financial statement preparation services to domestic and offshore alternative investment funds, including hedge funds, fund of funds, venture capital funds and real estate funds located throughout the U.S. and Asia. Ms. Catura is known for her outstanding communication skills and positive demeanor and has extensive communication with clients and service providers that operate globally, including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, the Caribbean, Tokyo, and Hong Kong.

Ms. Catura graduated from Miriam College in Quezon City with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant in the Philippines.

Jernel P. De Mata

Jernel P. De Mata is a Tax Manager at Perennial Fund Services and leads the firm’s operations in Batangas City where he manages a fast-growing team of tax and accounting professionals. Mr. De Mata provides accounting, tax compliance and consulting services to U.S. clients that operate in the investment management business, including investment management companies, registered investment advisers and general businesses. He also works closely with the hedge fund managers and high net-worth individuals on a wide variety of income tax matters, including tax planning, income tax projections, tax research, IRS and State tax correspondence and IRS examinations.

Mr. De Mata helps his investment management company clients set-up and maintain their books using QuickBooks so they can remain compliant with investment advisor regulations.

Mr. De Mata holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Lyceum of the Philippines University and is a Certified Public Accountant in the Philippines.
